「銃を持った男が建物の外にいるらしいの。
学校の建物はすべてロックされたわ。今のところ私たちはみんな大丈夫。
でもこの先どんなことがあったとしてもこれだけは伝えたいと思ったの。
ダディ、愛しているからね」
今朝の9時過ぎに突然私に届いた長女からのテキストメッセージであった。
おいおい冗談だろう‼️
世間をにぎわせているスクールシューティングがここでもあるってことかよ。
長女を始めすべての生徒が机の下に潜って隠れている光景をイメージしてしまった。
何度も彼女とテキスト交換して構内の安全だけは確認し呼吸が出来るようになった。
数時間後に校長から送られてきたメッセージを下記に紹介します。
英語だけですみません。
数週前にフロリダの高校でスクールシューティングがあったばかり。
こんな身近なところで実際に起こるだなんて驚きです。
さらに我が家から数十分離れたところにあるエベレットの高校では先週、未遂事件が起こったばかり。
ライフルと銃弾を準備していた犯人の高校生の祖母が気づいて警察に通報。胸を撫で下ろしたばかりでした。
ぜひぜひ皆さん、米国の高校生がこれ以上凶弾の犠牲とならぬようお祈りください。
Dear Families,
I’m writing to let you know that our school was in a brief lockout this morning at 9:50. A student informed school administration of a social media threat that was initially perceived to be affiliated with our High School. Bellevue Police Department and District Security were immediately notified and responded promptly. After further investigation, it was determined that the social media posting was linked to similar postings nationwide that had surfaced throughout the last week. Regardless, police presence remained on and near campus, following the lockout being lifted. All our students and staff remained safe during this short lockout.
We really appreciate this student coming forward out of care and safety of our community.
Student and staff safety is a top priority for our school. We realize that the police presence on and near campus may have been unsettling. Please be aware that your student may want to talk about the activity. If your student needs additional support, or you notice a change in behavior, please contact us.
