3G is so over priced.
iPhone, iPad 2, Google Chrome Laptop, Tablet PCs, Netbook all come with the 3G option. 3G enables you to connect to wireless network provided by cellular phone carrier to transfer data anywhere you have a cellular phone signal. But it comes with the price. It is not unlimited so more you use it, more you have to pay.

It is so not worth it, unless you really need to be online 24 hours. But even they your smartphone can have a service called "Tethering" which enables devices like your laptop to go online vis your cellular phone. You carry cellular phone anyway, why do you need another 3G device.

You should consider buying WiFi version of devices instead of 3G until cellular network provider start offering you UNLIMITED service at reasonable price. I rather pay $3 to go t Starbucks and get online. It is faster and more reliable on the road. And if you are in the middle of nowhere, you don't get 3G coverage anyway.
