You need to know how the problem started to know the cause of the problem. Sometime, you need to reset the program to before the problem started to understand. Progress is important but you always need to be able to revert if the problem is bigger than the problem you try to fix.

This concept can be apply to everything in life. It is not only to the computer programs.
