Happenings around town this weekend

Labor Day weekend, usually considered the end of Seattle’s short summer, is soon to be upon us. Bumbershoot gets most of the press, but there are many other things happening in case you don’t wish to spend your weekend cheek to cheek with a rowdy crowd of thousands down at the Seattle Center. Here are just a few of the things available to you:

Friday, Sept. 3

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
-Quote along with the rest of this audience at this screening of the classic Monty Python movie!

Saturday, Sept. 4

Celebrating Life Dragon Boat Festival
-Dragon boats, each with teams of 20 paddlers will race throughout the day to the cadence of drummers keeping paddlers in precision time. Vendors, entertainment and a beer garden add to the festivities.

Vintage Aircraft Weekend
- The event is an opportunity for families to experience history in action! More than 60 vintage aircraft will fly to commemorate the golden age of aviation. Guests will have the opportunity to get up close to aircraft and experience the roar of their engines as they fly by.

The Cracked Up
-This legendary comedy night is back with full force and is bringing in an all-star lineup of national/TV-credited comedians.

Sunday, Sept. 5

Bicycle Sunday
-Enjoy the scenic views of Lake Washington Boulevard without worrying about traffic, as the City closes the beautiful stretch from Mt. Baker Beach south to Seward Park. Bicycle Sundays are open to everyone, no matter your skill level.

Blind Wine Tasting Challenge
-Take the weekly blind wine tasting challenge by sampling seven different wines with wine expert Dr. Morton Tavel. If you've been waiting to show off or test your palate with an expert, tonight's the night.

Tai Chi could Ease Fibromyalgia

Happy Monday everyone! For this Monday's update we have a link to a very interesting article at the NY Times that suggests that "the ancient Chinese practice of tai chi may be effective as a therapy for fibromyalgia, according to a study published on Thursday in The New England Journal of Medicine."
